articfox Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hi:very much appreciate some help to overcome the following problem on my PC with XP service pak 2.I have two CD units - one for ready only (Creative CD5233E-N)and one read and write(Sony CRX210E-1).Somehow the MS generic driver version 5.1.5235.0 has become disabled and I don't know how to re-enable it.The two drives are recognized as being installed under system information but the list show an alert icon opposite both.I tried finding the appropriate drivers at the mfr's websites but they are not listed as being "current" models. Thanks for anyone's guidance and solution. Do I need to use a DOS disk approach with MSCDEXE and/or an .inf and or extract a file from the driver.cab location and if this latter is the way to go, how do I do that and identify the driver file I need
Hanshi Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hi,When the devices did work correct in the past you can do one of the following:- Go to the hardware device manager and next to the properties of the device. On the tab 'drivers' click on the button "rollback driver". This will install the driver you previously used.- Another option is to return to a restore point from a time you knew the device was working properly.
Sonic Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 You have to do the same thing as this topichttp://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=93578It's a popular issue using some burning/copying software. This .reg file will reinitialize your optical drivers, reboot and voilà !
