Immediate Log off after Log On

Hi

I was at a friends house installing AVG anti-virus for them and it discovered a couple of viruses, which i quickly removed. But then i restarted the pc and logged on but staight away it logged off again. Any ideas how to fix this (i can log on in safe mode)

If you can log on in safe mode w/ networking, download autoruns and disable anything non-Microsoft. Reboot, and you should be able to log in and clean the rest of whatever is causing this up.

I had a girl friend's computer that suffered from the same foe.

Her problem was a missing userinit.exe that some virus ate

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\userinit.exe

is the right path.

It could be another file missing, or a corrupt registry.

Use a BartPE CD, with an Antivirus, and a remote registry app, and you sould be able to replace any missing files, etc.
