Windows native fonts messed…

Hello, I am not sure, but I think I have somehow messed windows xp native fonts that is usees for application menus and Internet explorer website display.

First, shutdown dialog window font look weird, kind of terminator type font…

Second, Internet explorer displays default fonts on WebPages different; I can see with my web designer eye it’s different.

Any suggestions on how to cleanup the mess appreciated. Need to mention I just did a windows repair (upgrade) but that didn’t solve the issue.

I have never seen anything like it...but the Terminator font looks cool...

I know this might sound a bit drastic, but a Windows reinstall should take care of it.

A re-install does seem a bit drastic.

Have you checked your Display Properties > Themes [Tab] & Appearance [Tab].

Under themes I have the Windows XP Theme

Under Appearance I have:

- Windows and buttons: Windows XP style

- Color scheme: Defalut (blue)

- Font size: Normal

You might also want to check the Advanced tap under Appearance. Does everything look normal there?

For Internet Explorer:

Tools > Internet Options > General [tab] > Accesibility [botton] -> All choices should be UNCHECKED

Also check the Fonts button ->

- Language script: latis based

- Web page font: Times New Roman

- Plain text font: Courier New

All settings above are from a newly installed Windows XP. Hopefully this will help a bit.

Yeah, a re-install does seem a bit drastic indeed.

Everything seems fine, just as you say. But the problem is still there with terminator font and IE font display.

This is desktop settings:

I kind of feel that for sure the system somehow is taking that terminator font as a default system font. Looking for an utility that will check for such crap and correct it.

Do you actually have something like a Terminator font installed. I mean is it listed amongst the fonts in your control panel? Can you delete it.

I also noticed from your first screenshot you have a modified theme. Can you change that back to the Windows XP default theme. If not, what happens if you select the Windows XP classic theme or any other theme. Does the terminator font dissappear?

Have tried the classic theme, and didn't help.

Deleted terminator front and as you can see, the system replaced it with another non-system font
