I have a problem with my Acer TM8100LMi.

My battery lasts about 50min on power saving in Vista. However the battery indicator shows from 100% to 97% and then all of a sudden pops up "critical battery" warning at 6%. There is no indication in between. Why is this?

Buggy bios? Vista supports a newer ACPI revision, that maybe your bios implements but in a buggy way.

Maybe its the battery not giving a proper reading. I know my old laptop would drop from about 60% to 10% within seconds simply because the batteries were just getting old.

I don't know if there are any recalibrating tools that'll do the job sorry.

there should be a calibration tool in the bois of your laptop, give that a hot if it still does it then time for new batt's

The Acer BIOS I am running is very limited, I can not find any calibration for the battery there :(

However as I recall this started already in WindowsXP and might definatly be the hardware failing.

Do I have to buy a new bat?
