emaugust Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Hi there - I just created a new x64 machine on a MSI board. The board has PS/2 inputs for both the mouse and keyboard. This is important to me because I run a KVM switch between 2 machines. Currently the x64 machine does not register the ps/2 mouse, however the ps/2 keyboard works just fine. The PS/2 mouse is listed in the hardware device manager with that yellow question mark. When I go to install drivers it gives me an error code 10. Here is that description from the microsoft knowledge base:"Code 10If the device has a FailReasonString value in its hardware key, that string appears as the error message. The driver or enumerator puts this registry string value there. If there is no FailReasonString in the hardware key, you receive the following error message:This device cannot start. (Code 10)"Has anyone run into this? Does anyone have any insight as to how I could get this mouse working?Thanks!p.s. I'm glad I found this cool forum!
nitroshift Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 1. Welcome to msfn 2. Try a different mouse and see if it occurs again.
JimBobUK Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I have a similar issue where I RIPPREP'd an IBM ThinkPad R60. When you "RIS" using that image, all works fine apart from the mouse/nipple touchpad. They seem to be dead untill you log into windows XP, they will once the desktop appears work! i have tried removing the mouse from device manager but the same! i have also reinstalled IBM ultranav software! Any clues anyone?
