Question about windows update

Hi,

I heard some tweaks we do with nlite (specially the tcp/ip patch, limitation to 10 unfinished connections and the IE 2 dowload restriction) can be overwritten during windows update and get reversed to their original state (meaning the restrictions will be back).

Is that true? If so, what packages should I avoid to update?

Thanks

there was a time when tcp/ip was repatched from Microsft almost every month! I dont know about the present situation but critical updates are NOT expendable, even if it turns some patches off. You can always use some tcp/ip hacking tool to revert the situation (I shall not and won't point to any link).

Microsoft limits their os to 10 unfinished connection. The person who wrote the patch probably "enjoys exploring the details of computers and how to stretch their capabilities." Does this tool not "stretch their [system's] capabilities?"

The user is modifying their system to greater potentials, rather than using it the way it was intended to be used. I can modify a calculator to run NetBSD, would that not be considered hacking? You seem to be limiting the term "hacking" to only network related operations.

Typical. I knew you would post some other person's definition of "hacking." You obviously don't even understand the terms in your post. Just cocky, and in fact, you are probably one of those many script kiddies who uses other people's programs and thinks of themselves as hackers.

Here is the link.

It's not against the rules to post this link, it's not illegal or anything like that.

Some virus scanners actually calls it a "hacking tool", but it's not harmful, it's just a simple tool to do something that can be done using a hex editor.

@Lneto: Always keep your software updated, unless one specific patch or version is causing problems.

You can use the tool to patch TCP/IP in case an update does replace it.
