Hi

can anyone tell the meaning of MCE volume labels?

I came across the following:

mrmpfpp_em

mrmpoem_en

nr1pfre_en

afaik, fpp means Full Packaged Product (Retail Version) and oem means Original Equipment Manufacturer. this is from here http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=342

but they don't have the MCE labels...

does anyone know what is the meaning of the "FRE"? and what are the differences between the mrmpfpp and the nr1pfre?

thanks,

Roy.

I think you mean, MRMPFPP_EN, Roy.

I'd been doing some google & yahoo searches on these XP MCE labels; here's what I think:

MRMPOEM_EN seems to be CD1 of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 [OEM]

MRMPFPP_EN seems to be CD1 of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 [Retail - Full]

both of those CDs with either of those labels contain WinXP Pro.

NR1PFRE_EN < this one comes in 2 CDs, not one. Those two cds seem to contain the whole Windows XP MCE 2005 OS [XP Pro + Media Center features]. Microsoft couldn't fit the whole XP MCE on one CD, so they had to use two.

Don't really care about what "FRE" means. Seems to be an odd way for MS to name the CD label for XP MCE.
