windowela
This message appears when I try to use it: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer." Do I need a video codec or something? I'm not really sure what to do. Edited January 14, 2007 by windowela

windowela
Thanks for the responses, but actually after about 4 hours of trying stuff, I figured out the problem. A couple days ago I chose to upgrade my wmp10, however I couldn't validate it because my version of windows is not "genuine." Then under +/- programs I removed wmp11 , returning to wmp10. However I still couldn't get it to work. I went back to +/- programs, and I guess there was another component of wmp11 still installed. I uninstalled it and now wmp10 works! Also AVI. files now play! where as they previously didn't. Not sure why that is.
junior c
If you are running a wide variety of media codecs it isn't a bad idea to get yourself a codec pack, I personally use VLC and K-Lite. If you don't already have one.Junior. Edited January 14, 2007 by junior c
nitroshift
As I said before, all you need is ffdshow. Using a codec + codec pack = conflicts, sometimes movies playing upside down or not running at all. Edited January 15, 2007 by nitroshift
