iTunes and CD Detection... what dependencies?

With iTunes 6/7, I cannot get it to detect an Audio CD once I insert it. CD diagnostics sees the drive.

With iTunes 4.9, I keep getting an error message that I am missing CD Burning components on startup.

I left off the IMAPI CD Burning option with nLite, so I wonder if this is required for Audio CD playback

and ripping in iTunes?
