Im using a Virtual Machine for the first time to make a test on a new uxp cd i´m making.

I used to format my hd in every test i made, but circumstances won´t allow me to do that now..

Now, i loaded the ISO file into the Virtual Machine (I´m using MS Virtual PC 2004), and i got to the part of creating a partition to install the System on it.

But the virtual machine show a 16 gb disc with no partitions on it, but with all my hds together i don´t have even 5 gb of free space. So how come it shows a 16 gb disc at virtual PC?

Should i be worried?

If the VM preallocated the space, then the VM "hard drive" is a file on your computer taking up 16GB. It's also possible that the virtual HD will expand as space is used up (although there's a performance hit and preallocating the space is usually recommended). In either case, it's probably nothing you need to worry about.

but i checked the VM Hard Drive, and it´s 2 gb!

won´t this thing delete any data of my real hd?

VPC allocates the vhd space as you install the OS,applications,games etc automatically.

The more stuff you install, the more space it allocates.16GB is a theoritical maximum.

For instance, if you install 15.9GB of stuff, XP inside your virtual machine will tell you that you are running out of free space (the usual balloon tip prompt in systray).The vhd sizes for me varry from some kb (blank hd,formatted only, no OS installed) to 3+ GB (full os install plus applications).
