how to determine version of directX iunstalled

Is there any way to know that the directX files installed are the Oct or Dec updated ones as the version always reads 9.0c

by the extra dlls december has d3dx9_32.dll

october only has up to d3dx9_31.dll

(these are in windows\system32)
