DSCK Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Czesc, I'm a subscriber to MSDN based on my former employment; my question to anybody who might also be a subscriber- does Windows Vista x86 require a product key (as in my Key table there are none beside it), or do I call Microsoft for a Key? Thank you
Spooky Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 If you are a subscriber to MSDN and were able to receive the Vista RTM from MSDN then you should have recceived a key also. Yes the Vista x86 needs a product key to activate it. If you were a valid subscriber there should have been a key in your key table. Maybe a a call to MS will fix the problem for you. DSCK Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 It seems that if I spent more time looking at the key table instead of writing this post, I might have noticed the column of 'unclaimed keys', the checkbox beside the software, and lastly the button 'request keys'! Thanks Spooky for the quick reply, I'm about to start researching the differences between the 'Ultimate' 'Business' and 'Home' versions of Vista (5CD download, I'm sure I'll have plenty of time!) Dzienkuje,
Spooky Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 LoL, i've done that too I think MS has something up that shows the differences between the versions. The differences are only features, nothing to do with the basic operations as all versions have the same foundation. Its just the differences in features that distinguish between the different flavors of Vista with the Ultimate version having all the bells and whistles (features) enabled. It seems that if I spent more time looking at the key table instead of writing this post, I might have noticed the column of 'unclaimed keys', the checkbox beside the software, and lastly the button 'request keys'!
