snekul
At http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/11/3...le-machine.aspx they discuss and link to a fully-activated copy of a VPC with Win XP SP2 and IE 6 on Microsoft's web site so you can legally do testing on IE 6 while having IE 7 on the host machine. It is time-bombed for April 1, but they expect to release updates.
CoffeeFiend
Pointless, one is FAR better off with Multiple IE for that (it's v4, 5, 5.5 and 6 in one small download, free, no time-bombs, unobtrusive and all). No need to run a RAM-hogging virtual machine just for a web browser.
WBHoenig
Frankly, I'm surprised that they are giving out licenses for free at all. There's nothing stopping me from using it in VMWare on Linux (VMWare will read Virtual PC images) for other purposes.
Idontwantspam
Are there any plans to bring this back or renew this? Because I just found out about this today, and it's the day after the last day it would have worked. And this would be very, very helpful.
