November 24, 200619 yr 1st of all i would like just to say some things about alternate software, im no the best fan of MS products, so i started to search for alternate programs that run on Windows (mostly Open Source software, like 7zip etc etc)i would like to ask you guys for help if theres any DHCP Client software that manages the whole DHCP Service, im having heavy problems with the DHCP service in windows, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew crash my computer sometimes.I Saw some handy progs for Linux for DHCP just for what im looking for, and i came to the idea to ask about it, google didnt help.thnx.
November 24, 200619 yr Author No, what i mean is i dont want windows to configure my network settings for DHCP, if theres alternative software for this area then i wouldnt resist to use it .
November 25, 200619 yr You should probably reinstall Windows. Whether you like the built in DCHP client is one thing, but if it's not working, then there's probably something wrong with the system.
November 26, 200619 yr I have to agree, replacing internal windows components is usually not a good idea. Microsoft knows how their OS works better than anyone else, so replacing the internal DCHP is really not a good idea.
November 26, 200619 yr Author ok then im SEARCHING for a software that controls the WHOLE DHCP Service of windows (client side)?anyone ?
March 26, 200719 yr I am searching for a dhcp client for windows that will only REPORT back what the dhcp server says, and NOT change the ip.
March 26, 200719 yr You can see what the DHCP server says by looking at the IP address you are given. DHCP servers don't communicate with clients in other ways but assign IP addresses.
