bledd Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 (edited) Just had my pc restart on me without giving me any warning (probably because balloon tips are off) due to an update -i have updates set to automaticany chance of adding this regtweak in where the automatic updates part of unattended section is?new dword value called NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU and set it to a value of 1.this will now disable the countdown timer as long as somebody is logged in to your system. if nobody is logged in, the computer will still restart immediately Edited November 23, 2006 by bledd
bledd Posted November 24, 2006 Author Posted November 24, 2006 it never stung me until last night, but it seems a valid one!
nuhi Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 "However, this has been addressed in Service Pack 2, where Windows XP SP2 installed PCs will install the downloaded updates at the time of restarting the PC. In pre SP2 systems, this feature is not available."Does this mean you don't have sp2 installed or maybe it was one time thing maybe you clicked yes for reboot?
