I think you're getting that error because when Media Player installs, it creates a restore point automatically. In your reghacks you've probably disabled system restore. To avoid that error, either remove wmp9, or turn system restore back on. You could even turn it off after wmp9 has been installed, if you prefer.

Hmm, I have WMP9 installed during setup, even with system restore disabled. Perhaps a switch is missing that will tell the WMP installer to ignore it?
