I386 already on computer?

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I got a new computer yesterday and have decided to try this out, but my very first problem is quite possibly the most beginner-like.

My computer vendor was Dell, and the files I noticed in C: straight away were "DELL", "DRIVERS", and "I386".

Apparently I386 has some Accessories programs, and several icons/cursor management. It also, if it matters, has $OEM and $1, but the only thing beyond that is Drivers.

Will it affect my system, in any way, if I were to place Windows XP's CD folders and then just rename it? I realise most likely not, as it's a different directory from where the programs run, but I want to be sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It it would help, the folder is around 869Mg (912,035,840 bytes, to be exact).
