Nemosta Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Greetings,I got a new computer yesterday and have decided to try this out, but my very first problem is quite possibly the most beginner-like.My computer vendor was Dell, and the files I noticed in C: straight away were "DELL", "DRIVERS", and "I386".Apparently I386 has some Accessories programs, and several icons/cursor management. It also, if it matters, has $OEM and $1, but the only thing beyond that is Drivers. Will it affect my system, in any way, if I were to place Windows XP's CD folders and then just rename it? I realise most likely not, as it's a different directory from where the programs run, but I want to be sure.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-NemostaIt it would help, the folder is around 869Mg (912,035,840 bytes, to be exact).
Aaron Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 On a unrelated note, is it possible you could send me any *.sif, *.ini or text-type files that are in the $OEM$ folders? I would be interested to see how Dell code their unattended installs.
Nemosta Posted September 13, 2003 Author Posted September 13, 2003 Aaron, there's only one thing in the $OEM$ folders, and that is a file called CMDLINES.BAK.If you wish, I could send that to you, for the only other thing in the folder is Drivers, which is empty.-Nemosta
