Jan810 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I have encountered the following problem after installing Xpize 4.6 Beta: I had a previous version of Xpize installed for some time before the new Beta and was already running the new Windows Media Player 11 without any problems. After installing Xpize 4.6 Beta I was trying to open the Media Player but received a detection error message, telling me that version 10 of the player was detected while version 11 was expected. A subsequent re-installation of version 11 failed and I received an error code 80070005 ("General access denied error").A uninstallation of XPize 4.6 Beta did not solve the problem and I now have no access to the Media Player, regardless of the version.Should anyone be able to help, it would be greatly appreciated.Jan810
XPero Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Try reinstalling WMP. Please, remember that XPize 4.6 is in BETA stage, so it is a bad idea to install it on your main computers. Use a secondary PC or a virtual machine. XPize 4.6 final will have full WMP11 support. Thanks
Jan810 Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 (edited) Thanks for the fast reply. Unfortunately, it is not possible to install WMP, as the installation is always interrupted at a certain point during the process and I get the above mentioned "access denied" message. Does aynone have an idea? Edited November 7, 2006 by Jan810
XPero Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 XPize creates a system restore point. Go back to that point.
Jan810 Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 I already tried that, but it it did not solve the problem. It seems to me that some registry entry was changed that is now preventing the installation of WMP 11, but that is just my guess. If anyone has encountered a similar problem in the past and was able to solve it, I would be happy to learn how.
