Home network printer problem

I created a small cable connected home network between my desk top and my laptop. The Desktop is connected through a software firewall to broadband. I can access the shared files on the host machine from the laptop client. I can access the net from the client. I cannot however get the client access to the printer.

Suggestions please.

Addendum: I tried it again and lo! My last adjustment has worked and I am now printing happily.

Have you shared the printer?

Make sure permissions are set up correctly on pc with the printer.
