I know it's not a virus, and I know it wont harm my pc. Nevertheless, my antivirus (bitdefender) detects it as a hacking tool, and even if I know that it's not, I would like the option of a cmdow.exe alternative.

Is there one?

Thanks

Search MSFN for "RunHiddenConsole.exe". The thread is probably buried to about page 30 by now so a search is your best option. It pretty much does the same thing though not quite as versatile.

Isn't cmdow.exe also responsible for making this window appear, instead of the black command window?

Will RunHiddenConsole.exe do that too?

No cmdow has nothing to do with that window. That is part of the OS. Cmdow simply hides the command windows, just as RunHiddenConsole does.

EDIT: Another alternative would be to use NirCmd.exe. A Google of that filename will take you right to the publishers web site.

That is done with RunOnceEx.cmd and the registry entries.

Howdy,

I had the same issue. SAV 10.1.5 was detecting this is as a threat. To get around it in SAV they have an option called "Global Security Risk Exclusions" and I added "HackTool.HideWindow" to the list and it now dosen't bother it. Hopefully your AV vendor has some kind of exclusion list as well.
