XP Upgrade problem

I'm trying to upgrade a Windows 2000 pro box to Windows XP Pro and am running into an error.

I ran the upgrade advisor and removed the software and hardware listed. I uninstalled the antivirus software.

When the pc reboots after I complete the initial wizard I get an error saying that there is a syntax error in Line 122 of the winnt.sif file. This line is under the [classkeys] section and when I compare it to the current registry I believe it has something to do with the USB adapter on the motherboard. I tried disabling the USB support in the BIOS, but got the exact same error.

Here is the relevant section of the winnt.sif file. I added three asterisks next to the line I believe is causing the problem and kept a few lines above and below for reference.

I'd like to avoid a clean install if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
