deb77 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I'm trying to upgrade a Windows 2000 pro box to Windows XP Pro and am running into an error.I ran the upgrade advisor and removed the software and hardware listed. I uninstalled the antivirus software. When the pc reboots after I complete the initial wizard I get an error saying that there is a syntax error in Line 122 of the winnt.sif file. This line is under the [classkeys] section and when I compare it to the current registry I believe it has something to do with the USB adapter on the motherboard. I tried disabling the USB support in the BIOS, but got the exact same error. Here is the relevant section of the winnt.sif file. I added three asterisks next to the line I believe is causing the problem and kept a few lines above and below for reference.[classkeys]?BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}\0000? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Jeremy Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Performing an OS upgrade isn't recommended. I suggest you obtain/use a clean bootable source, download RyanVM's Update Pack and the Integrator to fully update it, and try installing that.
