I have windows xp on my computer and one problem with it. When I instaled windows xp everything was ok. But later windows updated and the new version of media player was downloaded and instailed automaticaly. After an instaliation of new media player I can't see any video file with media player because the wiew is very dark and looks like solarize efect used. The problem is not in the video because before the instalation of new media player, the same video was perfect quality. I downloaded all updates for media player, divx, directx, but nothing has changed. Later I downloaded another programs for playing video, like VLC media player, divx media player, but the new players also show the bad wiew. What can I do?

There are a few things that might provide an easy workaround:

Install a different 3rd party video player to replace Windows Media Player (WMP).

System restore prior to WMP upgrade, then try to re-do the upgrade process.

See if installing WMP 11 (I believe it's still in Beta) solves the problem.

I don't believe his video driver is at fault. The culprit is likely the new WMP. If you can do a System Restore before it was automatically downloaded and installed, do so. To have more control over what is automatically downloaded and installed from Windows Updates, do the following:

Right-click on My Computer, click Properties. Click the 'Automatic Updates' tab and select the option you feel comfortable with, other than having them automatically both downloaded and installed without intervention from you.

Also, download and install K-Lite Codec Pack Full. Let us know how that works out for you. :hello:
