Like the title says, no music plays... I go to WMP and click on any music, and it loads but just doesn't play it... same thing with iTunes. Even if I drag the bar over to another point in the song, it still just doesn't...

ALSO, I did a clean install on my D: but my music was in a folder on my desktop (C:).. now it's gone... why?

Soundblaster Audigy... I downloaded the Vista Beta drivers from the Creative site, thats what got it playing, but for some reason music still doesn't come from it...

also what build are you using? another thing have you started the windows audio service, on my machine (5728 x64) I often find the sound seems to stop working when its nto used for a long time, i just open up task manager, and stop and start the windows audio service, always seems to work for me, not sure why, i also had this problem with beta 1 & 2, except it happens a lot less now.

also I can't remember what one it was but i remember one vista when installs, at least for me didn't set the windows audio to automatic, took me ages to figure out why i had no sound! i'm sure that was in the first public beta tho

oh, just wondering, has all sound stopped? or just music...? I'm assuming all sound has stopped?

Sorry for the big pictures! think i've gotten addicted to this snipping tool, i love the highlighter and free hand thing, as if you couldn't tell :P

well this is the easist way i think open op task manager, click on the services tab, then right click on the Windows audio and then click start (assuming its stopped) if its started it should say Running under status, however its worth trying stopping it, then starting it to see how it goes.

Can't remember but not all builds have the services tab in task manager (i think) so the other way is to go via the control panel, then slect administrative tools, then services, scroll down till you see it

hope it helps!

Okay the first one didn't work coz I apparently don't have right (even thought I'm the only user and the Admin)

and the second one, I disabled then turned on but it still doesn't work :(

hrmm, might be worth checking in the services if there are any creative services that are stopped that need to be started.

the only other thing i can think of, i'm assuming theres some kind of speaker config software with the creative drivers, if theres is, make sure the audio is set to come out of the right port, with my (onboard) sound its suppose to detect which port the speakers are plugged in, but one of the driver versions it didn't (although this was in xp) and had to set it myself, if that makes no sence, sorry about that!

was hoping that other thing would work so i could feel clever :P otherwise i can't think of anything else :( do you know of anyone else who's managed to get them working? or as a stop gap do you have onboad sound you could use until newer drivers are released?

*sigh*

I'm just going to get my original driver CD's back from my brother...

The whole PC went weird... most programs I had installed had to be REINSTALLED.... Example, iTunes, YIM, MSN, Adobe Reader, Photoshop... They ALL had to be re-installed, even thought they were still on the computer  I guess this might be the same type of thing...

Thankyou so much for your help!! I'll be back if the original drivers don't work lol

go here and make sure you have gotten the RC1 driver package, also go into cmputer management and enable the administrator account and set a password for it. then logon as the administrator and install the software drivers. any and all software and drivers should be installed as that admin, even if your account is in the admin group you are restricted in some ways

I'm playing the music in iTunes, so does that tell you anything? Even thought music/sound doesn't play ANYWHERE

And I have Creative SB Audigy... Do they have the RC1 drivers for that yet?

Okay I got it working!!! I was listening through the headphones, so I decided try my speakers and they worked  So I just listen on my headphones through the speakers... I'm guessing there's something wrong with my PC's headphone slot, even thought it was working JUST before installing Vista...

Thankyou all SO much for trying to help. It's much appreciated!! B)
