carnoustie66 Posted January 1, 2002 Posted January 1, 2002 I have an internal Motorola 56K internal PCI modem,XP won't recognise it and I can't find a driver thatworks. Can anyone point me in the direction of a driver thatis compatible?
LS_Dragons Posted January 1, 2002 Posted January 1, 2002 Got an actual model number or something for the modem? Also - see if you can find a Windows 2000 driver - many of those work just fine in XP.LS
carnoustie66 Posted January 1, 2002 Author Posted January 1, 2002 Thanks for the reply.Tried the Windows 2000 driver which identified modem as Motorola SM56.Went over to Motorola website which redirected me to a company called Vanguard Services which do not have the drivers I need.Hope you can help further.
LS_Dragons Posted January 2, 2002 Posted January 2, 2002 was this modem 'included' with the system when you got it? If so - try the PC manufacturer's web site. If not, you may have to bite the bullet and go buy a new modem - a good time to do so if you end up having to do this. I have seen pretty good equip at Fry's for under $20 lately.LS
Aaron Posted January 3, 2002 Posted January 3, 2002 get yourself an external modem if you plan to buy a modem, they're easier to install.
Conan Posted January 3, 2002 Posted January 3, 2002 Dude go to google, type motorolla modem drivers. I was able to install windows 2000 drivers for my friends sm56 modem. Works fine in XP.
