dingdongbell070 Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 At my company we have 3 different locations. The main location is connected two the other locations with a VPN to each one individually. Is it possible for one of the branches to connect to the other branch by accessing the main location through the VPN then accessing the other location through the second VPN? So essentially going through 2 different VPN's?
rendrag Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 (edited) it will probably work, but may not operate reliably because of the amount of overhead involved with running the tunnel Edited October 11, 2006 by rendrag
gamehead200 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Yes, as long as you use the correct hostnames/IP addresses to connect to VPNs... Like rendrag said, it might not be so reliable. That setup is quite a pain, though.
eyeball Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 (edited) do you have router to router vpns in place?if so cant you set up static routes at the main site that say something likethis.. (excuse the diagram) lol{site 1} -- - - - --VPN - - - - -{site 2} - - -- - VPN - -- - - -{VPN}10.0.0.x 192.168.1.x 172.16.0.xstatic routes:1) traffic from 10.0.0.x destined for 172.116.0.x - forward through the gateway for 192.168.1.x2)traffic from 172.16.0.x destined for 10.0.0.x - forward through the other gateway at 192.168.1.xthis is assuming you have 2 routers at the main (middle site)if not and its software VPN then a VPN within a VPN will work, however slowly and DNS may be an issue but it can be solved with the hosts file.hope this helps Edited January 29, 2007 by eyeball
