Birds Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I think I must have stripped a bit too much from my installation. Some of my Windows installer based programs showed strange errors while installing or failed to install at all. And when I tried to install ActiveSync, it popped up the window showing commandline parameters!I've looked at the list in the sticky, but there's nothing specific about Windows installer. Is anyone have any tips? What services or components can be removed safely and which ones should just be disabled?.
Birds Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 actually, more accurately it's only broken on my real machine. The same stuff seems to work fine in Virtual PC.

Birds Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 (edited) actually, I did a bit more testing. It is definitely not any of my settings.I made an installer using XP SP2, with nothing else that other than the unattended setup tab. In other words no components were removed or disabled.I try to run ActiveSync installer, and I get the following screenthe installer is running from a map network drive, and the exact same file runs fine on my real PC. Can anyone advise on why this may be happening?or could it be something wrong with nLite 2.0?I would test with a plain Windows XP, but the installer refuses to run without patches to the operating system. Which is interesting because at least it is doing more than just displaying the commandline parameters therehere is the screenshot for the gold XP Edited October 13, 2006 by Birds
