Turnul_de_fildes Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I have a retail version of Windows XP SP2(with all updates from Microsoft Update site including framework 2.0) and from nLite 1.0 beta 6 to nLite 1.2 RC I have this error every time I want to slipstream hotfixes, integratting drivers or removing optional components(image1 image2 image3).This time I was only integrating RVMUpdatePack2.1.2 and still the error pops up and nLite stops working. I thought it was a problem with framework 2 and so I removed it and then reinstalled and no use. I even reinstalled the OS and used nuhi's Framework Lite R3 and the problem remains the same. Anybody has an idea what is causing this and how to solve the issue? I have searched the forum but didn't find a similar problem or a solution.Thanks!Last_Session.ini
jamielboyd Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I had the same problem. I had a few folders with different versions. One I used had SP2 already integrated, others had this or that. Somewhere along the line, apparently I corrupted the WinXP w/ SP2 folder I had been using as a source for my other versions . Anyway, I created a new source directory from an original CD (that I knew had worked when I first started using NLite), integrated the SP2 and all the stuff I love, and BINGO . Maybe you've already tried that, but it worked for me. NLite has saved me countless hours in building laptops so good luck! B)
Turnul_de_fildes Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 Yeah, I remember using older versions of nLite for customising Windows XP without any SP . It worked very well, without any error. But since I have this Windows XP SP2 Retail CD I've been thinking using some of latest versions of nLite for shrinking the XP source for fast gaming and browsing. But until now I've had no success and I don't kwow what is to blame, the XP SP2 source or the mscorwks.dll - which is a file from the net framework 2 - that keeps showing in the error dialogue. Anyway, thanks for the reply, jamielboyd, you gave me an ideea to search my bag for an old cd with plain XP and use the lastest nLite version on it!
nuhi Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Try this exactly please:Uninstall within Add/Remove programs all versions of Framework you have. Then delete these folders:C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NETC:\WINDOWS\assemblyThen reboot and reinstall only Framework 2.0...it must work.
Turnul_de_fildes Posted October 14, 2006 Author Posted October 14, 2006 Hello nuhi! Let me first thank you for your reply and help and for your wonderful program! Second, I did exactly what you said to do: uninstalled both framework 1.1 and 2.0, including their updates, then I deleted those two folders within C:\WINDOWS and rebooting. I reinstalled framework 2.0 and integrated RVMUpdatePack2.1.2a.7z into XP source using nLite 1.2 RC and...it worked fine!(image1)Thanks nuhi! LAST_SESSION.INI
