Kanno Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Hi guys, I'm sure this has been asked before but none of the solutions I've heard so far have helped me out at all. I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP SP2 on my laptop but as soon as I select the partition I want to intall to and go into setup, I get the error message :The following value in the .SIF file used by Setup is corrupted or missing:Value O on the line in section [sourceDisksFiles] with key "SP2.cab." Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.I'm sort of lost as to what the problem is but here's what I know for sure:Not a RAM problem (checked it and everything was fine)Not a HD problem (I've had the same problem trying to install onto 3 HDs, one of them brand new)Not a CD problem (I've tried 2 cds, one genuine, one back-up)I don't THINK it's the boot disks because this is the 3rd set I've made.Any ideas? Where s the file that is missing supposed to be? On the boot disks, or on the CD?Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!
Kanno Posted October 6, 2006 Author Posted October 6, 2006 I'm not sure what you mean. Where would I find the .sif file?
Ctrl-X Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 If this is a standard XP CD, my guess is it's complaining about the i386\txtsetup.sif file. Check to see if it is corrupted.
