Help Help Help. My Keyboard is depressing me.

Im not a computer wiz so thats why im here.

The following keys do not work:

CTRL=If i try ALT AND DELETE, but can use it for CTRL and BACKSPACE to remove a word at a time

ALT=SAME AS ABOVE

DELETE=SAME AS ABOVE

LEFT

RIGHT

END

PG UP

PG DOWN

HOME

INSERT

Boot to DOS or another OS and check the functionality of those keys to determine whether it is a problem with Windows or the hardware.

first off, i'd try to clean your keyboard.

get an airremover and suck out all the dust from between the keys you are having the trouble with.

also, can you state what keyboard you have and whether it is new? thanks.

Im prety sure that it isnt a problem with dirt as CTRL and ALT work in some situations, like CTRL + BACKSPACE but not in others like CTRL + ALT + DELETE and the keyboard is part of the laptop bought Winter 2005.

Boot into dos

make a ms-dos startup disk. Open my computer, rightclick drive a: and format. Check box "create msdos startup disk" (if it's greyed out, try toggling the quick format option). Restart your computer and after a few minutes you should be in a black screen with white text. Try pressing the keys and if all of them work it's a problem with windows and not the laptop itself.
