shahsxfx Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 (edited) LLXXmates i'm sorry its not a clickity clack.Ok go put your ear next to your pc open up any program or run defragmentthat gargly sound the hard dirve makes...thats the sound i had every now and again.i'm sure there is a more technical term for that sound but thats what it was.as if windows was either trying to look for something or was trying to open some thing up.In my mechanical engineering opinion i think it what that pesky Norton Turn back feature. It must have been monitoring the HD and looking for new and exciting ways to p*** me off.And i'm sure i must have accidnetly enabled a few MS Access programs while i was looking for MS equation editor.Tarunthanks so much for the advice about the HD tune thing.Honestly i have no clue what its doing, like i said i'm a mechanial engineer, i know decent bit about pcs but i'm sure you know more.So you may be able to explain why when i click on the Health part of HD tuner its empty? As for the picture i posted, what the hell does all that mean?Any how guys for now any way the dam thing is behaving it self.In my personal opinion i feel that being dressed in all blackleather and wearing a black lid, boots and gloves and giving the thing a solid b1tch slap and threatning to kill it and eat its sould put the fear of got into it and may have attributed to its improved behavior. What song was going therw Shah's head when he was working on his pcdecked out in black riding gear!http://youtube.com/watch?v=hIQEBe4L7iE(PS video is defenity not G nor PG nor.....well i don't think its even R maybe NC 17? but never the less a great song to listen to wile working on euipment that isn't behaving its self!) Tarun Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Screenshot of the health screen:Post yours. Btw, this isn't a screenshot of my hard drive; it's one from the HDTune website.
LLXX Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 It's not a clicking, just normal access noise?Run HiJackThis and post the log. Probably some process or virus is constantly reading/writing to the drive. You can also try FileMon to see what programs are accessing what files.Ensure the Indexing Service is disabled, if you haven't already done so.
Tarun Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Don't disable any XP services, you'll do more harm than good.
shahsxfx Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 guys guys calm down! its ok now!no more access noise! Its scared of me! Just the way I like it ( evil Burns laugh)Tarunmate when i click on health all i get is a clean screan, nada i start off by doing a bench mark which takes bout two min and then i click on health and its....well empty. I'll post the pic in a min.I'm 100% convinced it was Nortons tun back feature. Its some dumb auto reverse feature which is suppose to allow you to go back to when your pc was doing just fine, (whidh is usually done the run command, how to do this escapes me at the moment), which was before you installed Norton Utilities! :-)
shahsxfx Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Hay guys just wanted to say thanks! Its was a great week end the PC behaved it self and i just wanted to say thanks for all of your help!
