CptMurphy
You'll have to edit the registry. This excerp is from M$ help and support. Click Start, and then click Run.7. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.8. In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey, if it exists:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel9. If the ResetWebSettings value or the HomePage value exists in this key, right-click the values, and then click Delete.Note You may also want to verify any Web site information contained in the Default_Page_URL value and the Start Page value in the following registry keys:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MainHKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MainHKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main10. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion.11. On the File menu or on the Registry menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor. coucou
TNX CptMurphyFirst i must say that my computer was NOT infected by any virus/trojan/spy... my UA WinXP installation, include Symantec Clent Security Corporate + Webroot SpySweeper.I could get ride from this problem but NOT exactly as it explained in KB320159. 1) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel Have'nt \Control Panel.2) HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main Can't change "Start Page" content in normal mode. I do change it in "safe mode" but when i restart in "normal mode", still the locked Home Page address www.msn.fr came back. Here what i did.1) I performed a clean boot in Windows XP 2) I changed "Start Page" to my desired Home Page address in HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main3) I restrat system in NORMAL BOOT.BTW, although my winnt.sif file contain [URL] Home_Page=http://adsl.free.fr it seems ignored. How could I force on my UA WinXP DVD my own IE home page to be selected??? Takeshi
winnt.sif needs to have this as well:[Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended = YesI'm intrigued by why can't you change the HKLM Start Page. Something is starting up in Normal Mode and either changes it back or monitors and blocks it from user intervention. Normally you can change it as admin. What's the error message?Examine what items are starting up - do a Startup List.Is your AV or other tool preventing changes to the key? coucou
You haven't said anything on the other questions...By changing the Home address in IE Tools/Options.. I have no error message, it accepting the neww home address but when i start IE i get again www.msn.frBy changing the Home address in Start Page value in the following registry keys:HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main No problemHKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main Modification NOT accepted although i'm the admin.Regardscoucou
Takeshi
So now it's the HKCU, not HKLM subkey that you can't change. Still, I'd like to know what the error message is exactly, I don't mind even if it's in French. Or upload a screenshot.
