This post may be in the wrong section? Not sure where to post it.

Is there a freeware program (easy to use) that I can use to copy lock/protect my data CDRs please?

Thanks

In short, there is no way you can stop someone from doing as they wish with whatever is on the CD, period. However, this doesn't mean you can't protect the data, just use strong encryption. Check out PHP (http://www.phpi.com) or GPG (http://www.gnupg.org)

That still doesn't stop someone from doing whatever with the data once it's been unencrypted. But that just isn't possible unless you control the actual hardware itself.

Thanks... but that is not exactly what I am looking for.

You are right about what you said.

A simple freeware program to copy protect my data CDs even if it is not fullproof.

Thanks

i know of a freeware tool that does that, one can copy protect any programs of yours, another will add a password function to any executable file you choose,

try Applok:

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/a.mccann/

Or activelock (for your own programs)

http://www.insite.com.br/~nferraz/activelock/

i have a tool for generating serial key locks for your own programs also, but what i think your after is something you can add to any Cd and stop people copying it, be it full of mp3 or whatever, i have seen a tool like that someplace, but i cant find it again, if i do find it ill post the url here for you.
