Need help finding out win xp type

I got a laptop a few years ago that came with winxp pro sp1 cd.. i have the cd for installing it, but it has some problem (has some scratches and doesn't like installing)

i am trying to find out what type type of winxp pro i need to get so i can re-install it..

i have it still installed on the laptop, and i have the cd-key..

all i know is it does require activation.

i barrowed a cd with the normal win xp pro from a friend and the cd-key didn't work on it.. anyone able to help me figure out what type of winxp pro it?

Or click Start -----> Run ------> type Winver then hit OK.
