I have a forum and im looking for something kinda myspace like. i want each member to be able to have a journal/blog, but i dont want my server to have to handle a bunch of WordPress (or whatever) installs. I am useing SMF 1.1 RC2

joomla can do those things and also integrates with SMF via a bridge you find on the SMF forums.

what does joomla do though? and what changes will it make? i cant find anything really helpfull on the SMF forums about it...

Not precisely sure what your question is....Joomla is a Content Management System. It would act as your front page and manage all of your non-forum content.

I had them both setup with the bridge when I was evaluating them for a project. The bridge facilitates integration without "damaging" either database.

You may end up using an extension for the blog features you want.
