Printer Not Recognized

I just added a new Dell 944 AIO Printer to my Dell 4600 computer. I had a Dell A920 which broke. I tried to install the new printer and it is saying that my computer does not recognize the printer. Also my in my device drivers all of the USB ports and controllers are showing the "icky" yellow question mark! I have talked to Dell support for about 8 hours total and they went into my computer remotely and still can't figure it out. They want to wipe my computer clean! I am leary of this. Do you know what happened in the 5 minute span that I changed the printers? How can I fix the USB ports? Some of my other things are not working like my Kodak Easy Share printer and also my Palm Pilot. Can anyone help!

Thanks.

Go to update the driver for your USB ports and point it to system32 and drivers folder. if nothing is found there, insert your XPCD and browse that. Are you using Service Pack 1 or 2?

Service 2. I already tried updating the drivers and they are not found.

Did you experience any brief power shortages in the 5 mins duing printer switching?

No. My other printer which was a dell was fine. It was five minutes that was the switch. Say, I am new to this....I pushed the wrong flag. I am not from whatever flag is showing for me my from the US.

Unplug your printer and any other USB devices you have (except a mouse/keyboard). Go to Device Manager and uninstall all devices listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers. Restart your computer.

Try reinstalling your printer as per all the instructions. Just be warned - you might need to reinstall all your USB devices after this. Every USB device will reinstall the drivers for itself if they are still present on the system, but otherwise, you'll need

I actually did all of that with Dell support. Nothing worked. What if they are not present in the system? I just checked my device manager and I have 4 Intel ® USB host controllers with different #'s. Do I delete all of them? Also under other devices I have a "?" in yellow for USB Controller and 4 for Unknown. Ideas?

Yes, delete ALL of them. If after a reboot, they're still yellow, then you need to redownload and install your chipset drivers from Dell.
