I found doslfn http://www.geocities.com/jadoxa/doslfn/ along with unrar http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm using Cwsdpmi.exe http://clio.rice.edu/cwsdpmi/ very handy when i squeezed a network enabled win9x onto two and a bit floppies.

Autoexec.bat

xmsdsk.exe 20000 w: /y /t /c2

Cwsdpmi.exe

md W:\mindows

copy command.com W:\mindows

set COMSPEC=W:\mindows

copy autoexe1.bat w:

w:\autoexe1.bat

Autoexec1.bat

copy Mindows3.rar w:

@Echo Please insert Disk 1

pause

copy Mindows1.rar w:

@Echo Please insert Disk 2

pause

copy Mindows2.rar w:

@Echo Please Boot Disk

pause

a:\doslfn

w:

a:\unrar x -o+ w:\Mindows1.rar

All the above freeware, I did find a higher compression utility but cannot find it at the minute.

Hope some of this helps

Thats Perfect! do you think it would work for an entire windows 98 install + apps? and it does support LFNs, right? (i know there is a dos lfn tsr there, but will unrar support it?)

Norton's Ghost 2003, which is what I use for all my disk imaging, will copy, with compression, any hard drive no matter what OS is on it.

It will backup an NTFS drive as easily as a FAT-32 drive.
