NT4 not replicating

We have a Windows Server 2000/3 network but have an NT4 server on another site with a different subnet, the NT4 server can browse/ping the 2000/3 servers and everything seems fine but when a user changes their password on the 2000/3 server it isn't synchronizing with the NT4 server, thus users not being able to browse the NT4 server as it thinks the users logon credentials are incorrect and locking their account. The weird thing is when we put the NT4 server on the same subnet as the other 2000/3 servers it replicates fine

Any ideas guys?

Is Active Directory in mixed mode? Native mode doesn't support NT.

Yeah AD is in mixed mode.
