ive disabled my sata controler, reinstalled the drivers for my ide controler, uninstalled the controlers from device manager... nothing i can think of to try will fix it. the only other time ive had a problem like this was on a reall old system with a isa ide controler that i swaped out to fix it. i cant do that with the mainboard's built in controler ;):P

what should i do to fix it?

edit

fixed, now i just need to test to see if the 48lba esdi_506.pdr file works...

May I ask you how you solve this issue : I think I am in the same case and can't find any solution

I have been trying various configuration of my new SATA disk as a booting HDD with windows 98SE but just got each time (after correction of the NOIDE value in the registry) new BSOD message : "Your multifunction device (Standard Dual PCI IDE controler) has some child devices using 32bit drivers and some using compatiblity mode drivers. this configuration is not supported" !

Thanks
