MCE 2005 question

i just bought a laptop with media center on it and am a bit confused by the versions? if there is any difference between pre 2005 ones etc. on my COA stuck on the bottom it says its mce 2005 but in the system properties it says 2002. is this normal?

The way I understand it, MCE 2005 is XP Pro with the capability of joining a domain removed. The 2nd disc is just a add-on disc that installs the media center components onto XP Pro. So, XP Pro is ver 2002, so MCE 2005 is also ver 2002.

ok thanks, now i just need to work out how to make the disks from my current setup as they werent kind enough to give me the OS Disks

XP MCE = XP Prof + Media Center.

To figure with version you have, start the MC, click on settings->common ->Info->software version.

The 2002 is hardcoded als an recource in the file sysdm.cpl.
