Error when installing service packs :x

Featured Replies

Hi

After I've installed any of the windows 2000 service packs and reboot I get a stop error :/ any of you heard about that before, and do you have any idea's what I can do about it?

system:

MS-865G NEO2-LS, Intel i865PE, > 3600MHz, LAN, SATA, Dual DDR3200 motherboard

P4P800 2.8GHz cpu

512MB DDR PC2700 RAM

GF4 Ti4800

Diamond max 80GB hdd

Soundblaster live 5.1

State the full stop error (they're all in CAPS, including the number codes) and the name of the file causing it (if there is one)

Hello,

what is the code of the STOP error ? 0x.... thanks to precise. Did you made any change to config after applying the service pack ?

What module is causing the STOP condition ? should be either something .SYS or another short message in CAPITAL letters.

Thanks for feedback

Well, the statement of the error:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0x820B2B50,0xC000185,0x00000000,0x00000000)

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

and the only way for me to get back into windows is by booting up in failsafe mode, and uninstall the service pack I've installed :/

Interesting. This sounds really familiar. Pity I never solved that problem on my dad's comp, either... :)

I usually get this message when changing harddisk controller (i.e. motherboard) or updating/changing harddisk settings and related things.

You can have a check on MS Knowledge base page :

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;287043

or

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;316401

You might have to reinstall windows to fix this.

It's something frequent, so don't worry too much :)

Good luck! Report if you get any other things. Thanks.
