LS_Dragons Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 I have been messing around with Windows Update and came accross this very cool tip that will let you download the updates (without installing right away). This way you can burn various updates to CD for re-application should you have to reinstall the OS - or whatever. Here is the trick:1st go to the XP Windows Update site the normal way. In the left hand 'pane' you will see a link to PERSONALIZE.Now look for a Check Box that says "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog." Now at the top click SAVE SETTINGS. A new linkwill appear in the left pane that takes you to a searchable online database of XP-related patches and updates.Whatcha Think???:behead LS_Dragons
Guest LouCypher Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 Whatcha Think???:behead[/quote:2ac3f78ed9]I think we've known about this for quite some time. You can do a search sometimes and find all sorts of stuff...
Aaron Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 Yeah its wicked! Its good when I want to install updates to a PC with no net connection, so I download them to hard disk, burn it to a cd-rw, travel 35 miles or so, and put it on my other PC
LS_Dragons Posted December 17, 2001 Author Posted December 17, 2001 .... I did do a search - but did not find that particular post. Probably because the 'subject' was not about Windows Update. I looked at TONS of Windows Update titles posts, and had not seen this trick. I should probably just email you my posts ahead of time in order to make sure I don't repeat Just Kidding --- There is so much info on the forum, somtimes it is hard to find.LS
Rick Posted December 18, 2001 Posted December 18, 2001 Yes...a lot of posts and very hard to look through them all. IMHO.Rick:cool:
