rjdohnert Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Depends on what you are planning to use it for. Will this be an actual SERVER, or a Server OS used as a desktop?looking for a av and firewall solution for server.any idea? or where to look for?
Woomera Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 a server that has routing enabled and nat configured with a dial-up modem.so server+routing.and also any ips/ids software if the firewall doesnt have one.
rjdohnert Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 (edited) There are several options you can go. First, CoreForce is becoming a favorite of mine. The second that i employ the most and will probably have as a secondary is the BSD firewall for Windows. I have used Ghostwall and Jetico on Server 2003 but dont recommend them for that type of use because it exceeds their design. For AV you can use ClamAV , you can use Task Scheduler and or Visual Cron to assign scan times. I personally use Avast Server Edition, its pay but to me its the best. I have heard good things about AntiVir but I havent used ita server that has routing enabled and nat configured with a dial-up modem.so server+routing.and also any ips/ids software if the firewall doesnt have one.
