dsullinger Posted June 17, 2006 Share Posted June 17, 2006 I upgraded my Gateway Laptop from XP SP2 to Vista Beta 2. I always logon using the Administrator's account. Once the installation was complete, Vista booted up to the logon screen and when I tried to use the Admin password, it said that the Administrator's account had been disabled.Anyone have a clue why this has happened?Thanks in advanced. Family members stopped by in the middle of the upgrade, I closed the lid to my Laptop and set it aside. When they left, it was at the logon screen. I'm guessing if it gave me the chance to create another account, it must have waited only so long and then proceeded on without my input.If they are going to implement something like this, that's fine, but when it comes to creating another account, it should sit and wait before proceeding, specially if the only user account on the machine is the Administrator account.Well... probably a good idea to test with a fresh install anyway, I was just hoping to get around re-installing all my apps.Thanks for the help. Mr Snrub Posted June 18, 2006 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Boot in Safe Mode and you should find the Administrator account accessible, then you can create another user account with a password and reboot in regular mode (Administrator account gets automatically re-disabled). WooHoo.Wow, last time I had a beta copy of Vista was back with the first Longhorn release. We are a Microsoft Partner and as a MSCP and Beta tester, I usually get these OS betas. I just hadn't had the time to be a good contributor so I hadn't even tried to mess with it. Quite a bit of difference since then. I like what I see so far.Thanks again.
