How to allow all users access to loaded software

Featured Replies

Let me begin by saying I am not very computer savy. I have Office XP Prof 2002 and am the administrator. I installed a game for my children to play but when they try to play if gives a message that states they must have administrator rights to play. The only way they can play is if I sign on. I want them to be able to play using their own user account. HELP!!

Age of Mythology. According to everything I've read...the administrator ( that's me) is the only one that load software but everyone should be able to access.

When you installed it did it come up and say

Who can see this install then it would have everyone or just me in the install?

Ok try this,

Open run and type CMD

in there write this

runas /profile /user:enter the user name here "Put the exact EXE file in here"

You need the " " when doing the EXE

You may also need the users password

Let me know if it worked

Are your kids under the GUEST account or with Guest privelages? You should be able to make them ordinary Users or Power Users and it should work.

ALSO, on your account, mess with something called Set Program Access and Defaults. Usually on the startmenu but can also be found in Add/Remove Programs in the control panel.

it may be as simple as giving access to the folder where this game is installed, log on as yourself and then go to the folder, rightclick and do properties, then go to the permissions tab, and add the user you want to have access to that folder.

This would only work if you have Simple File Sharing switched off

Tools > Folder Options > Use Simple File Sharing (Uncheck)
