hougtimo Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Hi,I am thinking of going back to server 2003 as my main desktop OS. I have a couple of things to ask though. I know it is a lot more stable than XP, but should it be quicker too? I will have it heavily nLited, only keeping the components I know i will need. The sorts of applications I use are:Adobe Photoshop / ImagereadyAutocad 2006Sketchup (Corp, not the free one)Microsoft Office / OpenfficeRandom Web BrowserMSNWMP 10MS Virtual PC nLiteetc...Also, I have been using Acronis Trueimage with XP, now I understand that to use it on a server os i would need to buy the corporate version, however I am reluctant to buy it as it is expensive and I have only just bought the client version. I don't think that I could justify buying the server version just for my main desktop pc. I have two questions about this:1) Is there a way to make it run on 2k3?2) If i used TweakNT to convert it to a Workstation Version, would that work? Would it make the OS unstable if i used TweakNT, or break anything?ThanksHougTimo
bober Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 i have tried WindowsX xpconv. it seems to work well and a little faster than xp. nlite and virtual pc run on it, i don't use the other apps you listed.i prefer to use ghost 2003 which runs on w2k3 workstation.
