Hi, could anyone help me out, I rebuilt my system this weekend and now I am getting the below error logged when opening Autoroute, and I have also noticed when running the Office 2003 Update program from microsoft web site.

I have searched through microsoft but can not find anything, could it be an issue with net framework i wonder....

Event ID: 1000

Event Source: AUTOROUTE

Event Type: Error

Event Description: The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft AutoRoute ) cannot be found.

The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages

from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and

Support for details. The following information is part of the event: autorout.exe 13.0.9.100 autorout.exe 13.0.9.100

002fa93b.

i'd guess that it might not have installed correctly and/or a .dll hasn't registered properly.

try a re-install over the top and see how that goes.

I vaguely also remember that certain MS products are hard coded to only work from C:\program Files, not sure which ones, but may have been either autoroute and/or money. saw that info on msfn so a search should find it

One suggestion would be to re-create your user profile, and try it again.

A lot of the 1000 errors refer to issues with the HKCU registry key getting corrupted.

A fresh profile will get round that.

Thanks I have now done this and will monitor if this is still an issue, the installed location is the default as you detailed - could not find anything on the msn about that.

Interesting, this may be the reason why it has happed on two programs, however if there a way that i can check my "User- Profile" to see if its an issue...

I don't know about 'checking' the profile...

Perhaps you could create a new user, and use that to test if the problem still exists?

Also, there is a wealth of Event ID information at eventid.net which may help to track down the problem
