mcsphog
I just bought a new Athlon Dual Core Gateway computer that came with a MCE restore DVD. I know how to nlite and slipstream XP Pro CD's, but would like to know how to down size the DVD and only make a CD/DVD of the basic software without the garbage included in the 1.3gb DVD. I am looking for just the basic operating system to slipstream. What files do I need...Thanks
colinbate
Your MCE restore DVD is as it states a restore DVD. This will contain an image of the hard disk not an installable version of windows therefor you can't reduce it with nlite. What files do I need...ThanksYou need to find the following directories on your hard drive I386 and CMPNENTS (These folders may or may not exist depending on how Gateway installed Windows).Copy these 2 folders and create files named win51, win51ip and winn51ip.sp2 (the contents don't matter its the names that are impirtand) to the root of a DVD and make it bootable with nlite.
