If I do Run> regedit.exe it works!

However, just regedit makes it want to do regedit.com

However, I did not find a regedit.com file, so maybe a virus changed the command from perceiving it as .exe to .com... tricky little buggers...

You should definately install and run the Windows Defender BetaII most Antivirus programs by McAfee and Symantec (Norton) do not catch nearly as many Spyware programs as a dedicated Antispyware program does.

IMHO you're having a spy/add problem, try to scan your PC with Windows Defender like indy_dba said...
