WildKat
im thinking of formatting my main drive and reinstalling windows xp pro because its become quite cluttered and unresponsive.when im reinstalling can i choose which components to install or not eg msn explorer, windows messenger etc because the last time i installed xp i dont remember an option.ideally i would like it to be installed from a latest xp cd ie with sp1, latest patches, msn6 etc or should i wait for sp2 to be released (when??) then do a complete wipeout then?thanx! Unwonted
XP doesn't let you choose much more than what time zone you're in, unfortunately. There are ways to include your own fixes though. Check out this thread for some good ideas about how to get your old settings back. Check out my custom reg file, a compilation of my finds and others', for quick fixing your Windows. Sunil
The only way i believe you can do this is by using winnt32.exe from the cd to specify the programs you want to intall..You will need to create a boot floppy that has cd support, then change to X:\I386\winnt32.exe where x is the drive letter of the cd rom assigned by the boot floppy. Please let me know if this worked.Sunil
